Vamana Jayanti

 

Vaman Jayanti is observed on Shukla Paksha Dwadashi (the 12th day of the waxing moon period) of Bhadrapada month. This festival is also known as Vaman Dwadashi. Vamana is the 5th Avatar of lord Vishnu, The incarnation of Vaman Avatar was to help King Mahabali who lost his power. In Kerala, the Onam festival is also celebrated in remembrance of King Mahabali.

On this day devotees worship Maha Vishnu early in the morning with proper rituals. Donating food, rice, curd, etc is considered to be auspicious on this day. In the evening of the festival day, the devotees should listen to Story of Vamana along with the family members and distribute prasadam among everyone. Devotees should observe fast and perform puja with proper rituals to please Lord Vamana and to get all wishes fulfilled.
