Sri Masilamaniswara Swamy Temple Timings – Thirumullaivoyal
Sri Masilamaniswara Swamy Temple is located in
Thirumullaivoyal in Tiruvallur district in the state of Tamilnadu.
Here Lord Shiva is Mullaivananadar, Mullaivaneswarar,
Yoodhika Parameswarar and he is swaymabhu.
Sri Kodiyidai Nayagi is the consort of Lord Shiva.
The temple is incarnated by the hymns of Sundarar,
Ramalinga Swamigal and Arunagirinathar. This is the 22nd of the 32
Thevara sthalams in the Thondai regions of South india.
No Abhisheka is performed to Lingam.
A Padarasa lingam is placed in a separate shrine for
Pujas. The Rasalingam is made out of mercury and silver that is kept in
Sanctum.
The Nandhi Vahana of Lord Shiva accompanied a king in
his war against demons. Here Nandi is looking at opposite direction to Lord
Shiva
There are also shrines for Sri Kusalapureeswarar and
Sri Cholapureeswarar in the corridors and these lingams are believed to be
worshipped by Lava and Kusha the sons of Lord Rama.
This temple was built in Dravidian style of
architecture.
This temple has 5 tier Rajagopuram.
Ganapathi, Dakshinamoorthy, Lord Vishnu, Brahma and
Durga are the idols surrounding the sanctum.
Kalyana theertham , Agni theertham, Subramanya
theertham and river Palaru are the theerthams associated with the temple.
It is believed that Lord Maha Vishnu, Brahma, Murugan,
Rama, Lakshmana, Krishna, Surya, Chandra, Sage Bhrigu, Vasistha, Sudama,
Durvasa and all 27 Nakshatras have worshipped the lord and received blessings.
Sage Vasistha performed penance here and got the
divine cow Kamadenu as a reward for his devotion.
Vaikasi Brahmotsavam in May-June, Masi Float festival
in February – March, Aani Vasantha Ustav in June – July are the main festivals
celebrated here.
Garlands are offered to Nandi during the pujas are
worn by the devotees facing wedding problems and those concerned about their
childern’s health. But this practice is not followed on new moon, full moon,
Kruthika star and Pradosham days.
