Solar and Lunar Eclipse

 

  • When the sun, the moon, and the earth are all in line, with the moon or the earth at the center, a solar or lunar eclipse takes place respectively.
  • At the time of the eclipse, people bathe in the sacred rivers.
  • They do charitable acts.
  • The day after the eclipse they feed the poor, the Brahmins and the
  • Sadhus.
  • After the eclipse, they clean their houses, vessels, etc., and take a bath before they start cooking.
  • One should not take food during the eclipse.
  • When the eclipse begins the food will not get digested.
  • One should take food only after seeing the sun or the moon free from the
  • eclipse.
  • When the clear sun or the moon is not seen before sunset or sunrise, in the case of the solar and lunar eclipse respectively,food can be taken only after the sun or the moon is seen the next day.
  • Pregnant women should not see the sun or the moon during the time of the eclipse. If they do the child born may have some kind of defect. He may be born deaf, dumb, or blind.
  • Householders are forbidden from sexual intercourse on the day of the eclipse, for the same reason.
  • At this time one should take great care in avoiding bleeding, scorpion stings, etc. These have disastrous results. Even an earthworm has a poisonous effect when it bites one during an eclipse.
  • Those who do Japa at the time of the eclipse derive great benefits. The effect of Japa and Sankirtan during the eclipse contributes towards relieving the suffering of humanity and also of the planets.
  • These people receive the blessings of the gods. They attain perfection quickly.

Sri Raghavendra Swami Aradhana 2024 Dates

Sri Raghavendra Swami was born as the second son of Gopikamba and Thimanna Bhatta in the year 1595. The great saint who was hailed as the incarnation of Prahalada, the great bhakta of Lord Maha Vishnu, was born in the Mrighashirsha Nakshatra at Buvanagiri which is in the present day Tamilnadu. Born as Venkatanatha and fondly called Venkata Ramana, Sri Raghavendra Swami was the epitome of piety and bhakti. After serving the world and the lord for a lifetime, Sri Raghavendra Swami attained Jeeva Samadhi in the year 1671. It happened on the Dwitiya of Krishna Paksha of the Shravana month. The Brindavana that houses the samadhi is in the Raghavendra Mutt in Mantralayam and is visited by hundreds and thousands of devotees each year. Tirumala: March 2025 Quota Details

  The March 2025 quota of Arjita Seva tickets will be released on December 18 at 10am by TTD online which includes Arjita Sevas viz. Suprabhatam, Tomala, Archana, Astadalam. The devotees shall register for these sevas from December 18-20 and those who got the tickets shall have to pay from December 20 onwards and before the 12noon of December 22. Meanwhile, the Arjita Sevas like Kalyanotsavam, Unjal Seva, Arjita Brahmotsavam, Sahasra Deepalankara Seva tickets will be released at 10am on December 21 while the virtual sevas and gheir darshan slots on the same day at 3pm. TTD will release the  the Anga Pradakshinam tokens at 10am, SRIVANI tickets at 11am, Physically challenged and senior citizens at 3pm on December 23.   Pushya Masam is the tenth month as per the lunar calendar. In this month farmers get their crop hence it is called Soubhagya Laksmi Masam. The sun would transit in the northern direction and from then onward the Uttarayana Punyakalam starts. Uttarayana starts with the most famous festival Sankranti. As per North Indian Calenders, this month starts on December 16 , 2024, and concludes on January 13, 2025. Dhanurmasam 2024-25 Dates

Dhanurmas or Dhanur Masa is also known by the names Chapa Mas, Kodanda Mas, Karmuka Mas, etc. Dhanurmasa is also called Shoonya Masa because it is considered inauspicious to do any good things other than Godly and holy functions. In 2024  Dhanurmasam starts on  December 16 and ends on January 13, 2025. This period ends with the Makar Sankranti - the end of dakshinayana mostly occurs during the Pausha month of the Hindu Lunar calendar. More appropriately, the start of the Dhanurmas is marked by the entry of the Sun in the Dhanur Rasi this is called Dhanu Sankramana. Mandala Puja at Sabarimala

Mandala Puja is an important ritual observed in Sabarimala Temple. The day of Mandala Puja marks the end of 41 days long austerity observed by devotees of Lord Ayyappa. Mandala Puja and Makar Vilakku are the two major events held in Sabarimala temple. It begins on the 1 st day of Malayalam month Vrishchikam and ends on the 11 th day of Malayalam month Dhanu. During these days  Sabarimala temple is opened for darshan. Most devotees from various parts of the world visit Sabarimala during these days. Mandala Puja is mentioned in Various Puranas. By performing mandala puja the person’s destiny can be changed positively and all his desires are fulfilled. Women below 10 and above 50 are allowed to do this. They are called Malikapuram. Vaikunta Ekadasi 2025: Special Pujas at Srinivasa Mangapuram Temple

  Special pujas will be observed in Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy temple at Srinivasa Mangapuram on January 10 and 11, respectively, in connection with Vaikuntha Ekadasi and Dwadasi. After Dhanurmasa Kainkaryams, Vaikuntha Dwara Darshanam will be given to devotees from 3:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and again from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on January 10. On January 11, darshan will be provided from 4 a.m. to 5 p.m. and again from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Chakra Snanam will be observed between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m.
