Why lord is worshipped during Shravan Month

According to the mythological story, when Shiva Shankar's first wife Goddess Sati saw her husband Shiva being insulted in her father's house, she could not bear it and sacrificed her body in the Yagya Kund of King Daksha.

After this she was born as Parvati, the daughter of Himalaya. As Parvati, she chose Lord Shiva as her husband and performed great penance to get him. It is said that in the month of Sawan, Shiva appeared pleased with her penance and accepted her as his wife. After this, Goddess Parvati got married to Lord Shiv Shankar. Since then this entire month became the favorite month of both Shiva and Mother Parvati.

Since Monday is dedicated to Mahadev and Goddess Parvati, the importance of Monday falling in their favorite month of Sawan increases even more. Those Shiva devotees who usually do not fast on Monday, they also keep fast on Sawan Monday.
