  Doddabasappa temple situated in Bull Temple Road in Basavanagudi area in Bangalore in   state of Karnataka.   This temple is Nandi who is the Vahana of Lord Shiva with a height of 4.5 meters an 6.5 meteres long. కార్తిక శుద్ధ సప్తమి రోజు ఈ వ్రతాన్ని ప్రారంభించి మాఘ శుక్ల సప్తమి వరకు కొనసాగించాలి. కార్తిక, మార్గశిర, పుష్య, మాఘ మాసాల్లో శుద్ధ షష్ఠిరోజున సంకల్పం చెప్పుకుని, ఒంటిపూట భోజనం చెయ్యాలి.  సప్తమి రోజున పూర్తిగా ఉపవాసం ఉండి, ఆదిత్యుడిని వివిధ రకాల ఉపచారాలతో పూజించాలి. శాక సహితంగా పాయసం నివేదన చేసి, ఆ పాయసాన్ని శాక సహితంగా ఏడుగురు బ్రాహ్మణులకు దానం ఇవ్వాలి. ఆ తర్వాత పాయసాన్ని ప్రసాదంగా తీసుకోవాలి.  మర్నాడు అంటే అష్టమి రోజున పారణ చెయ్యాలి.  ఈ నాలుగు నెలల ప్రీతి కలిగించేలా నూతన వస్త్రాలు, రాగిపళ్ళెం, చెంబు, నీరు తాగే పాత్ర, నెయ్యితో నింపిన పాత్ర వీటిని దక్షిణతో సహా యోగ్యుడైన బ్రాహ్మణుడికి దానం చెయ్యాలి. ఈ వ్రతం ఆచరించినవారు సకల సంపదలు పొందుతారు.ధర్మార్థకామ సిద్ధి కలుగుతుంది. ఆరోగ్యం, ఆయుష్షు కలిగి, సుఖజీవనం సాగిస్తారు. కార్తికమాసంలో పాయస ప్రాశనం, మార్గశిరంలో గోమయ ప్రాశనం, పుష్యమాసంలో గౌర - సర్షప - కల్కప్రాశనం, మాఘమాసంలో క్షీరప్రాశనం చెయ్యాలి. వ్రతం పూర్తయ్యే మాఘమాసంలో బ్రాహ్మణులకు భోజనం పెట్టి, పండిత సత్కారం చెయ్యాలి. యథాశక్తిగా దానధర్మాలు చెయ్యాలి.
