Subramanya sashti
- Subramanya Shasthi is observed during Shasthi’ tithi during the Shukla Paksha in the month of ‘Margashira.
- Lord Subramanya is the Son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
- He is also known as Kartikeya and Murugan.
- If this day falls on Sunday then it is called Champa Shasthi
- Subramanya Shasthi is celebrated mainly in South India.
- Lord Subramanya killed the demon Tarakasura on this day.
- It is a popular belief that one who worships Lord Subrahmanya on this day is freed from ‘Sarpa Dosha’.
